Knee Replacements
What is Knee Replacement Surgery?
Regain Mobility
The Knee bones have a soft tissue called cartilage. When the cartilage wears off, it causes wear and tears in the joints. This leads to pain and inflammation around the knees.
In a Knee Replacement Surgery, parts of the knee bone are shaved off and replaced with different kinds of implants depending on the severity of osteoarthritis in the knee and the patient’s age itself.

Step-by-Step Explanation of Knee Replacement Surgery
The patient is given general anesthesia, and their leg is positioned so that the knee joint is easily accessible.
The surgeon will make an incision over the knee joint and remove the damaged or worn-out parts of the joint, including the ends of the thigh bone (femur) and the shin bone (tibia).
The surgeon will then position the prostheses on the ends of the bones and secure them in place with special cement or other methods.
The surgeon will close the incision with sutures or staples, and a sterile bandage will be applied to the knee.
The patient will be closely monitored in the recovery room, and physical therapy will begin soon after the surgery to help the patient regain strength and mobility in the knee.
What are the different kinds of Knee Replacement Surgeries?
01
Total knee replacement:
This is the most common type of knee replacement surgery, in which both the thigh bone (femur) and the shin bone (tibia) are replac
02
Partial knee replacement:
Also known as unicompartmental knee replacement, this procedure replaces only one part of the knee joint, usually the inner or outer compartment. It is usually considered for patients with arthritis that is limited to one compartment of the knee.
03
Revision knee replacement:
This procedure is performed to replace a previously implanted prosthesis that has worn out or become loose.
